From one jam jar to a Tassie staple

Before Johnno’s became a household name, there was Phyllis Johnston - home cook, market stallholder and maker of the best raspberry jam in town.

One weekend in the early ’90s, Phyllis sent her son (Johnno) off to the York Town Square Market with a folding table and a few jars of her homemade jam. They sold out. Fast.

Turns out, Tasmanians had a taste for honest, homemade flavour - and Phyllis had a recipe worth sharing. From that single market stall grew a family run business built on simple, reliable ingredients and a whole lot of love.

Staying true to our roots

More than 30 years on, Johnno’s Tasmania has grown into a trusted producer of jams, sauces and condiments with over 20 products in our range. We remain true to Phyllis’ homestyle methods and many of her original recipes are still used in our kitchen today.

We proudly support local growers and producers, sourcing the best seasonal ingredients Tasmania has to offer - from raspberries in the Derwent Valley to tomatoes from the South and apples from the Huon Valley.
